A food habit.

There is a verse in Rigveda regarding diet,
Of course, O men! Food which gives strength to the body, gives you joy, radiance, radiance and happiness, and gives strength to the senses so that the senses are alert to act, that is what is worthy of consumption. Do not take such medicines (food items) or inanimate and stale food, which destroys the power to work, and produces laziness or intoxication.
Diet has a very wide impact on the human body and human life. Human life is not possible without food. The survival of the human body is dependent on food. Without food, there is no power in the human body and no body power. Diet has a profound effect on both the physical and mental health of a human being and the food consumed which is full of energy and fresh is called sattvik food. Oily, spicy, spicy and salty food is called Rajasic food. Meat, rotten, rotten, is tamasic food. According to these three, there are ups and downs in them. Seeing the subtle effect of diet on the mind, the purity of food has been given utmost importance in our Indian Vedic life culture.
A distorted and irregular diet not only makes the body sick but also makes the mind restless and angry, lazy. There are many side effects of taking hard-to-digest, pungent, oily, canned, stale food, due to which many diseases come in the human body. If seen, almost all diseases are directly related to diet in some form or the other. Nowadays, fast food and junk food are trending in the trend, due to which many new diseases are also flourishing in the human body.
Diet is a natural necessity of our life, so it is important to know some important facts about it. The main purpose of the diet is to fulfil the deficiency of the body and also to increase it. The baby whose weight is only 3-4 kg at birth, gradually grows into a young man of 15 to 16 kg, then this is possible only through diet. The human body keeps on doing some work every moment, even after falling asleep in deep sleep, the lungs and heart continue to do their work. As a result of this work, the burden of building the cells of the body rests on our vitality and this work is accomplished through diet only.
If due to some reason the body does not get proper food on time, then it starts feeling tired and weak and if this sequence continues continuously then the body becomes weak, weak and in the end, it becomes difficult to hold the strength and enthusiasm. Therefore, for the health of the body, to make it disease-free, to increase the immunity of the body and to regulate the functioning of the body properly, a nutritious balanced diet is required. That is, a diet full of energy is important.
Maharshi Sushruta says,
Describing the general properties of diet, Maharishi Sushruta Ji, a scientist and philosopher of Vedic culture, says,
आहारः प्रीणनः सद्यो बलकृत् देहधारकः ।
आयुस्तेजः समुत्साहस्मृत्योजोऽग्निविवर्द्धनः ।।
That is, the diet strengthens the body, strengthens the body, maintains the body, increases age, radiance, enthusiasm, memory, energy and fire.

Regarding diet, we need to know the main five things-
- What diet should be taken?
- What amount of food is acceptable?
- When is it okay to consume food?
- Why is it necessary to eat food?
- How to chew the food?
1. What diet should be taken??
We should eat only those things which are nourishing to the body. It should always be remembered that food is a need for health, not taste.
2. What is the dietary intake?
No matter how nutritious and healthy foods are, they prove to be harmful if they are not consumed in the proper quantity. Therefore, food should not be eaten so much that it starts coming out of the mouth with belching, nor should it be eaten so little that the body does not get nutrition.
3. When is it OK to eat diet?
Food should be taken only twice a day. It is advisable to have lunch before noon and the second dinner by 7 in the evening. In Ayurveda also there is a law to eat twice. By taking the time of your meal in a fixed and proper amount, the food gets digested on time. Therefore, food should be eaten at least twice a day and that too when hungry. Eating now and then, apart from regular meals, taking breakfast several times is not good for health in any way. Regarding the way of eating and drinking, doctors and psychologists say that hunger is also of many types. For example, seeing someone eating and getting hungry for food. The urge to eat frequently in moments of anxiety or stress, or to feel hungry at the right time by biological rhythms. Experts say that the first two methods are wrong. Only the third method is correct, eating when you are hungry according to the biological rhythm. Therefore, food should be eaten only when there is an open appetite.
4. Why is it necessary to eat food?
The purpose of eating food is to make our bodies healthy, fit and strong. The first duty of a human being is to keep the body in perfect health because this physical body is the medium for the attainment of all happiness. Hence food should always be taken to stay healthy and alive. Food is not just to be tasted. And we should not live to eat, but we should eat to be alive and healthy.
5. How to chew the food?
The answer is that the food should be eaten in such a way that the stomach has to work with the least amount of effort. There are 32 teeth in our mouth. It has also been said that food should be drunk and water should be eaten. Whatever food comes to the fore, that food should be eaten with a steady mind, a calm mind and being happy. On the contrary, if delicious food is eaten with an irritable mind, then they also prove to increase diseases. Drinking more water while eating food does not digest the food properly. Similarly, by not drinking water at all, food does not become liquid properly. One hour after having a meal, start drinking water, and drink a little water every hour. By doing this the food gets digested quickly. Leftover food should not be given or eaten by anyone.
Definition of a healthy person.

Eat less food than is necessary, eat as much as is necessary; Because a person who eats too much cannot gain any strength by any means. After eating, he keeps looking for only digestible tablets and digestive syrup. Heaviness, indigestion, indigestion etc. start developing in the body of the person who eats more than the requirement and the body of the person who eats less than the requirement gradually becomes weak and powerless and hence whether eaten at home or outside: It should always be kept in mind that there should never be an undue load on the stomach, on the digestive system.
A healthy person wants to heal himself. The person who takes only healthy and useful substances in the form of food. Such a person eats not for taste, but health. The simple relation between purity and purity of consciousness is with the diet itself. That is, it is related to the emotions contained in the food. What are the feelings of the cook? Then whether those who eat it are conscientious or not. The only one who is sentimental and has a mother’s love can prepare the holy food. Therefore, this food can be eaten only by those who do not eat it for free. Does not exploit others.
It is worth noting that the more goodwill we offer to others, the more our inner strength grows. Therefore the evaluation of diet is the evaluation of the development of consciousness. The nature of the emotion associated with food refines or distorts our consciousness. It is written in the oldest text of Ayurveda ‘Charak Samhita’ regarding diet,
That is, humans should eat food in limited quantities. It should be in the same quantity as our digestibility. Then the late-digesting and quick-digesting foods in the meal should also be taken care of. Foods that are heavy to digest should be eaten only half or a quarter of a half-full stomach and those that are light to digest should also be eaten less than hunger so that the digestive power remains good. The same thing has been said in the book ‘Bhavprakash’ as follows,
कुक्षेर्भागद्वयं भोज्यैस्तृतीये वारि पूरयेत् ।
वायोः संचारणार्थाय चतुर्थमव शेषयेत् ॥
That is, in taking food, fill two parts of the stomach with food, fill one part with water and leave the fourth part empty for air circulation. This rule of taking food is beneficial for all of us and is a provider of strength and health; Because if we fill the stomach by laughing and being captivated by the taste of food, then its result is always very harmful. Such food never gets digested properly. Constipation and indigestion arise from this type of food. The energy stored by such food is also wasted and we become weak due to this. Therefore, one should not be subdued by the taste in taking food and should take simple and digestible food in limited quantity.
For this, you must consume a diet for health. Not to the taste. For your information, the size of the punch of your palm is the same as that of your stomach. Overeating, late-night dinner is like poison. In the coming days, if we want to live life healthily to some extent, then all these habits will have to be abandoned. Make physical exercise a part of your life.
